How do you feel about the step the Resident Evil franchise has taken?

How do you feel about the series from Resident Evil 4 and onwards?
I must confess I do like the action direction it has taken and 4 & 5 were incredibly enjoyable.
But does your heart still long for the creepy claustrophobic hallways at spencer mansion? the puzzles that would make you tear your hair out?
